In Primary school between 2 to 4 hours per week (depending on the class) the children take part in activities concerning language and mathematic knowledge and abilities. The aim of this lesson is that each child will individually develop his self-observations, self-confidence and motivation to learn at a higher level according to his abilities and talents. His time management and his self-adjustment on individual material that interest him are the main aspects of this lesson.
In particular
Students develop the ability of time management in tasks that they can perform autonomously, to check as a second strategy if the answer is correct, to develop imagination, creative and critical thinking, and to reflect on current topic locally or worldwide. The materials are real e.g. articles from magazines, newspapers, photographs, videos, reading books, philosophy or theatre plays, children’s texts, files, posters, electronic games or other games which develop strategies and critical thinking. Also texts and tasks from other lessons are used (Language, Mathematics, History, Physics, Geography, R.E) in printed or electrical form, usually chosen from higher classes and adapted according to the abilities of each student. The lesson usually includes an evaluation by the student of the lesson taught, by reflecting and learning to justify his opinion
