Parent-School cooperation procedures

Parents interested in sending their children to attend our school, can come to see in practice how a class work and discuss on a personal basis (questions- interview) their expectations and whatever other subject concerns them in relation to their child attendance.

To create through discussion the child personal “success plan” which includes the learning goals set together by the school and the parents.

The development of the child includes those initial goals and new ones are added over time. The evaluation of the child aimed at the development in emotional and social areas and the knowledge gained.

The parents are invited to an appointment four times a year to be informed personal of their child development by the teachers who teach the child. Also, any time that there is a need for the parents or the school to contact each other. It can be arranged in person, by phone or email.

Transition of the child within the school framework of E.P.

The new student who is considering joining our school at any level, can come for a day as a guest in the class at any time during the school year. He may also join the summer camp for a week or more if he so wises, in order to personally get to know and familiarize himself with the procedure of the school, make new friends and get to know his new classmates.

The teachers and the programme.

At our school, the teachers of each class are chosen in keeping with the character of the group of students and their needs. Throughout the year systematic observation is implemented cooperation and educational intervention so that:

  • each child feels unique
  • each child feels a part of the class growth
  • each child feels that his teachers  are the best for this specific time in his school life

All the educational teams are involved in the educational process and cooperation closely with each class and each child. (There isn’t one teacher for all the lessons in a class). They also work alongside the teacher for self-organization.

The morning programme consists of 35 teaching hours and the afternoon at least 10 educational hours per week.

The zones of the morning and afternoon programmes include the multifaceted evaluation of every student of the group that take part in order to improve the education provided for him or her.

Each year, after the self-education of the school unit in relation to educational policies the programme is improved by teaching methodical and pedagogical suggestions.

Each student may follow personal lesson in musical instruments or in cognitive objects after consultation between the school and the family.

Τhe operating Regulations of the school

The school operates based on the development of every member of a positive attitude, responsibility and empathy in all daily interactions. They are well known simple ways of behavior for the teaching process inside and out of the classroom e.g. in the dining hall, at school, on school trips, at the swimming pool, at celebrations etc. Each student is encouraged not to use behavior which doesn’t help him or his group. To solve problems or to ask for help (with handling behavior through discussion visual and written representation, cooperation with parents). Whatever happens between students and adults at the school is in the light of helping the student towards his progress.

Whatever problem occurs at school should be solved at school.

Ways of Communication

At the school, every member of the school community believes that communication in every way must always be positive, taking into account personal responsibility, and with the aim of improvement. Everyone is proud not only of the role he plays in the school community but also of his peers. As a whole, all are part of a special framework of learning and a community which works based on respect.

The clear achievements, roles and procedures help everyone to find a way to develop in everything they do while also developing themselves. In the three monthly evaluations (focal/ pointed based on the individuality of each student) the parents read the relative electronic text which is sent to them if their child displays unwanted behavior, while at the same time, they have a complete image of their child’s cognitive and social- emotional behavior with examples. With every difficulty that arises within the school framework, the school will always suggest solutions.

What the child learns

At EP the child learns that the school is a place where he tries, explains, observes, listens, shows, creates, experiences, with all his being, and not a place where he is just taught by a teacher.

Each child learns by interaction with the other members of the group, with the teacher, and the teaching materials. Each child learns from his mistakes and those of others.

He learns what is correct during problem solving and situations which motivate him to share his attempts of others.

The project method is actively applied to very high levels, motivating the wiling participation of the students.
